Cherry Grove, also known as the Cherry Blossom biome, is a pink-treed mountain biome that generates on slopes and plateaus, often just below snowy peaks.
The fastest way to find one is /locate biome cherry_grove with cheats enabled. Without cheats, explore mountain slopes, use a seed map, or follow an Abandoned Camp map.

QUICK ANSWER
- Where: Mountain slopes and plateaus, often below snowy peaks
- Fastest way: Use
/locate biome cherry_groveand travel to the coordinates - No cheats: Look for pink treetops in mountain ranges or use a seed map
- What’s there: Cherry wood, bees, emeralds, and Abandoned Camps; no villages
How to Find a Cherry Grove in Minecraft
Pick a method that fits your world:
| Your situation | Best method |
|---|---|
| You have cheats on | Use /locate to get coordinates |
| You know your world seed | Use Chunkbase’s seed map to find one |
| You have neither | Search mountain slopes for pink trees |
| You found an Abandoned Camp | Check its chests for a Cherry Grove camp map |
Use the /locate Command
With cheats on, the fastest way to find a Cherry Grove is:
/locate biome cherry_grove
The command works the same in Java and Bedrock but only searches your current dimension. You also need command permission. In Bedrock, enabling cheats permanently disables achievements for that world.
Travel to the X and Z coordinates it gives you, or teleport there safely in Spectator mode:
- Run
/gamemode spectator. - Run
/tp @s X 100 Z, using the X and Z from the locate result. - Fly up or down until you’re in open air above solid ground.
- Switch back with
/gamemode survivalor/gamemode creative.
Use a Seed Map
Use your world seed in Chunkbase to find Cherry Groves without cheats. On servers or Realms, ask the owner for the seed.
- Enter your seed. Open Chunkbase’s Biome Finder and enter your world seed. In Java, use
/seed; in Bedrock, check World Settings. - Choose your version. Select your edition and version. For Large Biomes, choose the LB option.
- Choose Cherry Grove. Keep Dimension set to Overworld and select Cherry Grove under Highlight Biomes.
- Get the coordinates. Hover over or tap a highlighted area, note its X and Z coordinates, and travel there.
To follow the coordinates, press F3 in Java. If coordinates are hidden, press F3 + F6 and enable them in Debug Options. In Bedrock, turn on Show Coordinates under Settings → Game.
If you upgraded your world, use the version that generated the area you’re checking: the older version for pre-update terrain and the newer version for newly explored terrain.
Search Mountain Slopes
Explore grassy mountain slopes, plateaus, and foothills, where Cherry Groves generate.
Cherry Groves often sit between snow-capped peaks and flat grassland. Some are small enough to hide behind a ridge, so check more than one side. Meadows can border them too, but pink trees are the clearest clue:
- From a distance: Pink treetops
- Up close: Dark, curved trunks and petals drifting down from the leaves
- On the ground: Pink petals on the grass

Look for a Cherry Grove Camp Map
Open the wooden chests at Abandoned Camps. About 1 in 8 camp maps is a Cherry Grove Camp Map that leads to a camp inside the biome. Barrels don’t contain maps, and camps already inside a Cherry Grove won’t have this map.
Abandoned Camps were added in Java 26.3 and Bedrock 26.50, so this method only works in those versions or later. Treat it as a bonus route when you find a camp, not your main search method.
Check That You’re in a Cherry Grove
- Java: Press F3 and look for
minecraft:cherry_grove. If the biome line is hidden, press F3 + F6 and turn Biome on. - Bedrock: There’s no biome display, so look for pink cherry trees and petals. If you used a seed map, confirm your X and Z coordinates match the highlighted area.

Still Can’t Find It?
| Problem | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
/locate won’t run | Cheats off / no access | Enable cheats or ask admin (Bedrock: no achievements) |
/locate finds nothing | Wrong dimension / too far | Go to Overworld, travel farther, retry |
| Syntax error | Wrong biome ID | /locate biome cherry_grove |
| Seed map mismatch | Settings mismatch | Check seed, edition, version, Large Biomes, X/Z |
| No nearby Grove | Pre-1.20 terrain | Explore unloaded chunks |
Stuck after /tp | Wrong Y | Spectator → fly out → switch back |
What You’ll Find in a Cherry Grove
Cherry Groves are the only natural source of cherry wood. You’ll also find pink petals, bee nests, emerald ore, structures, and a few hazards to watch for.
Mobs
Pigs, sheep, and rabbits roam Cherry Groves, and bees nest in cherry trees. At night, the usual hostile mobs spawn, including creepers, zombies, skeletons, and spiders. Bring cows or chickens from another biome, since they don’t spawn here.
Blocks and Resources
| Resource | How to get it | What it’s for |
|---|---|---|
| Cherry logs | Break by hand or use an axe | Cherry wood building set |
| Cherry saplings | 5% leaf drop or buy from Wandering Traders | Growing cherry trees |
| Pink petals | Break by hand; bone meal adds more | Pink dye, decoration, and breeding bees |
| Bee nests | Silk Touch with bees inside | Moving bees for honey farms |
| Emerald ore | Iron pickaxe or better | Villager trading |
🏡 Base-building tip: In Java, sugar cane and pumpkin patches don’t generate here, so bring sugar cane from another biome.
Structures
Two structures generate in Cherry Groves:
- Pillager Outposts: In both editions, including Bedrock since 1.20.30.
- Abandoned Camps: Only in terrain generated in Java 26.3 or Bedrock 26.50 onward. Their chests and barrels hold loot and maps to other camps.

Villages don’t generate inside Cherry Groves, but you may find one in a neighboring biome.
Dangers
- Cliff drops: Cherry Groves sit on slopes and ridges. Carry a water bucket for falls.
- Pillager Outposts: Pillagers fire crossbows from the watchtower and around its base. Bring a shield and use cover.
- Angry bees: Place a lit campfire under the nest before collecting honey or honeycomb.
- Silverfish: Infested stone can generate underground (Java: Y 63 and below; Bedrock: Y 0–64). Silk Touch prevents silverfish from spawning.
- Powder snow: Neighboring Snowy Slopes and Groves can hide it. Leather boots let you walk on top.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Cherry Grove the same as the Cherry Blossom biome?
Yes. “Cherry Blossom biome” is a common nickname, but the official name is Cherry Grove, so use cherry_grove with the /locate command.
How rare is the Cherry Grove biome in Minecraft?
Fairly uncommon. Cherry Groves generate on mountain slopes, plateaus, and valleys in mild climates, and some are very small. Check several mountain ranges or use /locate.
Do Cherry Grove villages exist in Minecraft?

Can you grow cherry trees outside a Cherry Grove?
Yes. Plant a cherry sapling on grass, dirt, moss, or mud with light level 9+ and a clear 5×5 area 8 blocks tall. Wandering Traders may also sell saplings for 5 emeralds.
When was Cherry Grove added to Minecraft?
In the Trails & Tales Update, released in June 2023 as Java 1.20 and Bedrock 1.20.0.
